TEFL India - Kolkata, Kerela, Ahmedabad

American TESOL Institute’s Kolkata TEFL program has gained significant popularity in recent times. Kolkata is not just the cultural capital of India but also one of the major tourist destiantions. Kolkata is also a central point in eastern India from where many exotic locations can be explored. The trainers are good, accommodation is excellent and most importanlty the food in Kolkata is delectable. An internship is also attached along with the TESOL course program. The short term internship can be either in India or in Thailand depending on the preference of the person.

My experience in TESOL course in Kolkata ( India ) was fantastic. The city is beautiful and rich in culture which makes it an excellent location for learning. Moreover the support form the team especially from the professional faculties of ATI made it great. Now I feel comfortable to teach anywhere in the world. I have been teaching classes part-time since 1997 at local community colleges and at State University where I am also a doctoral student. I have found my teaching experience to be both turbulent and rewarding. From American TESOL institute’s TESOL course with teaching practice that I have gained my greatest strength: “To not give up, but rather to try, try again”. This course structure was designed so beautifully which help someone feel confident along with a solid support from the professional faculty members.

The start date was the right time for me. The price was good. The location was good & ATI has the atmosphere I was looking for. The teachers were fantastic. It was a very handsome experience, utilizing your natural ability to build on basic materials, creating a fun and engaging experience for yourself as a teacher and enhancing the experience for student.

Kolkata is an amazing city. I have been so happy here and am eager to work in India as a teacher. I hope to use my newly developed skills to the best of my ability here. I am sad to leave for holidays before work but will be taking a long internship to make up for my absence in the internship. ATI was a phenomenal experience

I took this project as because i was looking to travel abroad..

My experience in Kolkata was great; it really helped me to get away from my worries and problems. Met wonderful friends and trainers. And with ATI was good, but I had little problem with my pronunciation, my preposition, which helped me to correct my problem and made me to realize to do carefully.

I chose ATI as I have passion for teaching and traveling. One being my profession and other being my passion ATI would help me realize both. Experience in Kolkata was wonderful. The stay, pick and drop and the course were all taken care of. Meeting other aspirants of the course and certainly the warm staffs who not only helped us learn but also were very helpful. It certainly accounts for a wonderful experience.

As I was looking for international certificate or diploma course online on net, I came across this offline course. It interested me and I further researched to find that it absolutely suited my requirement. I am looking forward to take up teaching jobs in non-native English countries abroad and India.

ATI, Kolkata was a very enlightening and refreshing experience. As I have already had teaching background it helped me to understand various other areas to exploit for further endearing teaching. It has opened to me alternative methods of teaching

I am a science graduate who switched over to teaching of English. I have been teaching English for the past 15 years. I have observed that students have difficulty in speaking and writing. By the time they come to high school it is so too late to help them. Therefore, when they leave the school they neither can fluently nor write proposal. Therefore, I wanted to know how to develop the speaking and writing skill in students. Hence, I joined ATI.

I am Bangalorean. I have lived all my life in the south. This is my first visit to east India. Kolkata looks like an ancient city, with very old buildings. We see alternate sights of old and new. Some places or areas are very modern, new and an adjacent area is old and stinking. Such a contrast! We have a very good transport system, Varieties of them metro, bus, train, auto, cycle rickshaw, boats, train etc. it’s a very big place. Fruits, vegetable and flowers are available in plenty and very delicious sweets.
The teaching practice is seemed to me most useful.
The trainers were always well prepared for the classes.
Facilities are all very good.

More grammar could be included.

It is a busy 3 weeks, full of surprises and it is good to realize that you have found your passion! I know teaching is mine.
Course content was though, but I was under the impression we would be covering the older years too-student (adult) level not just school level.
A textbook would have been useful (may be picture book included in the course).
The trainer was well prepared for the classes.

Why have you chosen to do an English Teacher Training course?

I have chosen to be a teacher, because I might idealize someone whom I consider the best teacher in the world. As a child, I was an average student in class and never use to top the class. But when I reached higher secondary, I was inspired by a wonder teacher named Mrs. Indu Arora. She taught me that any dream was possible only when you start working on it. She was the one who motivated me and helped me in developing in understanding in such a way that not only in her subject but also in the entire subject I started doing excellent job.

For some, a teacher is simply a person who informs student about “necessary information” like maths formulas, historical facts or literary work as grammar rules for, it is much more. Teachers give their students not only their knowledge but also their passion.

Moreover, teaching a subject helps you learn a subject. You will never learn a topic better than when you start teaching it. Teaching helps you to dig deeper and learn more about the subject.

Therefore, that is why I opted for teaching English us a subject and I am here to learn and understand more about it.

“Teaching is not about teaching a subject it’s about making your students feel good about them and helping them to realize and fulfill their dreams.”

Why have you chosen to do an English Teacher Training course?

English is one of the most commonly and widely used languages in the world. It is a very poetic language as well as helps one to impress oneself very easily.

English language has gained importance over the last few decades and is now accepted and spoken in most countries. Due to its growing significance, there are many resources available which helps to learn this language. However when you are dealing with the new or young learner it should be presented in a very simplified and interesting manner. Since the demand for English language has increased, so has the demand for English teaches. When you enroll yourself for English teacher training course, you get the first hand insight from experienced teachers regarding this language. You also meet people from different backgrounds and places who help who help you to add on to your knowledge awareness. You also learn the techniques of teaching and planning the lessons for different groups according to their needs. All these things along with the teaching practice sessions help you to prepare yourself for live situations and handle participants skillfully.

People not only learn from their teachers but also look up to them as their role models. I would love to do this course and spread the knowledge to everyone who needs it.

Why have you chosen to do an English Teacher Training course?

I am fifty-five years old and I want to be working until I am seventy-five years done. Teaching is the only profession that allows you to grow old in age and knowledge in linearity I have quit my jobs as HR Exec. to take up this course to quality to teach English in Malaysia eventually after acquiring some teaching experience in India and China.
I know I have the skills to engage students to be motivated in general participation. I believe teaching English us the whole works of personal development of the students regardless of age group.
In addition, I derive immense satisfaction and pleasure in seeing there tiny accomplishments in the students.

Why have you chosen to do an English Teacher Training course?

I want to be a nurse, so why have I traveled half way across the world to learn about prepositions? Three reasons come to mind, the first of which is perhaps true for most of my classmates; as well, I love to travel. Far off places hold an appeal; for me that no designer hand begs can ever possess.

In addition, although I am thrilled at the thought of easing a patient’s aches and pains, nursing is fairly rigid and procedural practice. Teaching will afford me a creative outlet that makes the exhaustion of some days completely worthwhile once I see and hear the lovely sound of doors opening for students who were stuck and demoralized in a dead en sort of life here to fore.

Lastly, I hope to learn TESOL because it’s a job and one that a person can be proud of knowing that they are offering up a small but mighty chance understand the funny things we do and have done since time immemorial. (Moreover, if that does not happen, at least I can vote with my wallet!)

I am always wanted to travel Thailand because I have heard great things about all aspects of the culture. I have never thought but look forward. This program was appealing since I got an excellent job placement. They have been extremely helpful.

I chose to do this project because it was the better alternative to online learning. It is based in Phuket, which was a major draw card and did not disappoint. The practical element was a necessary aspect of achieving a TESOL certificate and I do not think I would be prepared if I had not experienced this. The fact is that it is American funded and also comfortable as ATI understands western amenities, lifestyle, culture etc.

The course contents and materials were good.
The live examples of lesson plans and teacher practices
Seemed to me most helpful training site was very nice. It was a great location.

Why have you chosen to do an English Teacher Training course?

Although I am a trained primary teacher, having passed out from Mt. Hermon Teacher’s training college, Darjeeling, I feel I need this internationally recognized training to sharpen my skills and to enable me to teach English in countries outside India.

I have been teaching in the Primary and middle school overseas but was never allowed to teach English as I was of Indian origin. Therefore, I ended up teaching mainly mathematics in addition to other subjects.

For fifteen years, I have taught in IGCSE schools in, I have Abu Dhabi and Egypt. Though I have held a position of headship in the Junior School, I have never been permitted to teach English. Now, I feel with this TESOL certification added to my belt and the new skills and techniques I will acquire, it will be possible for me to teach this subject internationally. My confidence and skills are a bit rusty now but I feel with professional help and guidance I could also be a part of a faculty imparting a globally unifying language like English, which happens to be my mother tongue.

Why have you chosen to do an English Teacher Training course?

Teaching is not just my profession it is my passion .I have been a lecturer in past five years and believe me I am still all enthusiastic to learn. This flair of teaching and learning made me to take up the course in English literature. After completing my masters in English, I have been constantly looking for courses in English, which can give me the exposure I am looking for. When I read about TESOL I thought this is it, this course is going to help me grow academically as well as it will expose me to different cultures. (We) can travel around the world, learn different cultures and eventually come back and teach our students in India. Therefore, I thought TESOL will make me a better teacher. I always work hard to inculcate human values in my students, which is the dire need of the hour. More than anything, I inspire my students to be good human being who can stand up for the sake of truth and honor. Thus, today’s students can be tomorrow’s prompt leaders, that are what, and that gives me the highest satisfaction in the completely wide world.

I have (lot of) hope that TESOL is going to equip me with lot of innovative teaching methods, which will help me, will my students heart and be an inspirational teacher.

Why have you chosen to do an English Teacher Training course?

The word teacher tells us about a person/an individual who provides knowledge, guides us to follow the norms and certain aspects of life correctly/appropriately. He/she in other words has to be more patient. Understanding, caring so that he/she can explain his students with ease. In other words, ‘Teacher’ is a person who provides light (knowledge) through his teachings, the same way English is a language, which is spoken, is most parts of the world and has now become a way of communications to resolve problems, to provide views, ideas etc. So teaching English to students of other language is important. So that they can have that self-confidence in them to move around the world and to communicate with people easily.

My main intention for this course was to help children to learn the language, which is important in today’s world and I would like to travel different parts of the world and see different customs, religion etc.

Why have you chosen to do an English Teacher Training course?

I chose to do an English Teacher Training course because I want to teach English to groups of children and adolescents who do not handle this language as apart of them. The teaching is an activity that I like and I have developed many times with different groups of people and ages. In addition, I found this opportunity to grow in knowledge. I know this area is a great strength in all that I liked to do in the educational area. I know that through training new opportunities and new ideas is coming to teach English properly, meaning that those who are learning require very good guidance and support in order to acquire the new language in their daily lives.

Infrastructure is really good.

I chose ATI because I received good comments about it from friends.
My time in Kolkata was good and the time for me passed very fast. My classmates during this course were very nice.
With ATI I feel good because I grow more in knowledge, ideas about this activity and also is helpful for my future activities.
The contents of this course were good and practical. The materials in this course were helpful, but are good more ideas about materials.
Every aspect that we see is useful, because you are going to apply ascending to the content.
It is good to mention or give more ideas about materials in the website or books.
The trainers communicated the class material clearly and the trainer has been well prepared for the classes. They also made the class much interesting.
The training site was very good. The people were good and helpful.

I like the American system and teaching. All Kolkata was in India where I normally feel safe.
Initial days were a little frightening but loved all the rest of the days. I can stay here forever.
The content of the course is exhaustive. The materials in the course initially mind-boggling but clearer towards the end.
The demos/practical demos by students/input all I should say was helpful for me.
I guess it can be spread over 4 weeks. In addition, we should know in advance, what the students know so that our lessons were not boring for them. We should also be told of some of the school rules.
The trainers communicated the classes very clearly but wondered at the relevance of the assignments give to write. The trainer was well prepared for the classes.

I chose ATI to know the method of teaching English language. It helped me to come off the mental block of teaching English language. It helped me to know where I am lacking. I will really work hard and prove myself to be an excellent teacher and also a good English language trainer.
Kolkata is very good place, comfortable, enjoyable and people here are very cooperative. Kolkata is cool place. ATI helped me to interact and know different people, different method of reaching etc.
The teaching methods, trainers, there encouragement seemed to me helpful.
The trainers were well prepared for the classes. Overall, the trainers were excellent.
Infrastructure is sufficient according to the format for the course.

It is the gate way of career as a language teacher at international level – highly reputed – placement agencies, employers ask for it - to upgrade my skills and knowledge – ATI is the only opinion in India.
Very enriching, learning experience. Kolkata is a nice comfortable city. It is cheaper compared to other cities in India. I feel whatever I learnt here has changed the way of my paper assessment and teaching methods.
Amrita, Anjana and Sangita were excellent in content, experience and training methods. They were very friendly, co-operative and always ensured that the training objective is achieved.
The materials in the course and the contents of the course were excellent.
How to keep effective filter low, tips on paper checking, communicative approach, how to set context, strategies of teaching receptive skills- all these helped me a lot in way of teaching.
The trainers well prepared for the class and the have effectively managed the class. I found them responsive to my queries and problems.
The training site was good and well equipped with modern teaching aids and educational techniques and technology.
I appreciate the efforts taken by all the trainers to upgrade us with innovative techniques for teaching. They were always very encouraging and positive.

The first reason was practical – A.B.A. is not required and the price was right. The second reason was I thought learning and practicing teaching in an unfamiliar environment as well as in a concentrated period, would be closer to the actual experience of teaching in the field.
I was not prepared to be cut off from family abroad this much. Informing nonnative trainees ahead of time about the difficulty one may face getting a SIM card or that facilities often strike here would be appreciated. Also, please let us know ahead of time how many teaching practice outfits and the exact dress code would prevent trainers from packing incorrectly.
The materials and ideas for class activities, along with the reorientation toward facilitation and low affective filters rather than lectures.
The trainers were well prepared for the class. They have encouraged me to make teaching in my career.
Please provide more computers. The guesthouse should include internet access as well, even if for a fee.

I chose to admit in ATI to learn how to teach English and improve on techniques.
The contents and materials are good enough. The aspects of the lessons with the trainers and TP are seemed to me helpful. Over all the trainers are excellent. The environment is comfortable, relaxing with the right teaching aids.
Try to incorporate the use of visual aids like a smart board and projector. Have more soft boards for trainees to use.

It is a great way to enter the teaching world. My aunt suggested me for ATI.
It is great to be a part of ATI. All the trainers are very helpful, learnt a lot. Over all excellent experience.
Aspects of the peer teaching, foreign language seemed to me most useful.
The trainers were overall excellent.
The training site was great.

While researching all the available institutions I found ATI is interesting as I got lots of testimonials and feedback from website.
As I am residing in Kolkata, so, the experience was good with ATI. I enjoyed a lot.
The content of the course was good and the materials seemed to me average. Teaching techniques is most useful aspect in teaching practice. I think time would have been managed in better way and the course should be extended up to 4 weeks.
The teachers are good and supportive.
The training site was seemed to me average.

I always wanted to be teacher. I heard about ATI from my friend Pradeep who has already done his training from ATI-Kolkata. Therefore, it encouraged me to fulfill my dream.
It was really a wonderful experience, I made new friends from different parts of the world, visit
different places in Kolkata, eat delicious food atc. The ATI helped me to gain confidence in teaching and different ways of teaching.
The course content and the materials were good. Young learners really helped me to know how to gain attention of young children.
I found the course should be lengthier with different projects. Overall, the trainers were excellent.
The rent for the room is expensive. Kindly make it little economical.

ATI is world-recognized institute. I had not been to Kolkata so it was the other reason to come to ATI, Kolkata. I did not know we would get such good and adorning teachers for our class.
The experience was very overwhelming. I did not think it would be so enjoyable. I enjoyed the course. The last week was very intense. However, I enjoyed, as I have to learn from all the other people and trainers.
The course contents and the materials are very good. The trainers are overall excellent. I loved the school.

Rachel Bishop
Dec 22, 2009 at 9:02 am

The course was short and less expensive than other courses
Kolkata was very nice, but the institute seemed more concerned about money than teaching. We were given contradictory information many times.
The contents of the course and materials in the course were good. Teachers gave me good advice to first time. The lesson planning was very useful. The input sessions were nice. The teaching practice was very helpful. Some time it was unclear which material we would use in a real classroom setting and what was given to us as general knowledge. In addition, I wanted to be a teacher and they were unable to convince me completely. It seemed that trainers got a little impatient when questions were asked.
The distance between the school and guesthouse cut into learning time. There should be better resources. We were barely given any time to research on the net.

I have chosen TEFL because it offers so many opportunities to travel and learn. I love teaching, I’ve always aspired to become a teacher and this seemed the only way to experience it without first attending university. It offers me a chance to see if I like it or not and also to see a beautiful foreign nation, as well, I get to test my skills in the field I’m always excited about learning new things; knowledge is what I strive for. I find that there is a large demand for English in this world, and that by learning/knowing it, it’s easy to get ahead. If I can help people by any means, I feel fulfilled. That is why I chose to take TEFL because it shall be a very rewarding career. My main goal is to help people learn for a changing world, as well as adapt to this environment and in the process, learn a thing or two about myself.

I have always been a people person, but near so much out of my comfort zone. I find that this TEFL course requires me to be confident with all people, no just the ones. I am familiar with that is also something I strive for.

The main things I hope to get out of this course are also the reason I have taken it. Confidence, fulfillment and aspiration, they are why I am here, they will help me, help others.

Thirteen years of government job and seven in the private found me in a rut. Therefore, out of the blues, I decided I’ll give a shot in teaching. The Principal of one of the best private schools in Bhutan ‘Druk School’ was kind enough to let me in, in spite of no teaching skills nor experience. Therefore, for nine months I taught English and History to grades 7 to 9. I realized I enjoyed teaching and though I should have started earlier, I guess it is never too late.

While surfing the net, I came across ATI course in Kolkata. I was ecstatic and realized this was exactly what I needed to enable me to become an efficient and effective facilitator (actually, I would have used the word ‘teacher’, but I just learned today that it is an outdated word and ‘facilitator’ is more appropriate).

Moreover, TESOL opens up more opportunities for teaching abroad. I would love to travel, get to experience other culture languages and people, while being able to contribute through teaching English, a language I am comfortable with.

That is why I enrolled for this course and I look forward to it.

I think that teaching is a very challenging profession and the English Teachers Training course will give me a great opportunity to travel and work at the same time. I also think that it is a great way to contribute to a community.

I have chosen to take a TESOL course for three reasons:
1. As a stepping-stone to see if I will want to teach as a career.
2. To prepare me for employment as a voice and accent Trainer back in Chennai.
3. To obtain a skill I can use for wherever I live and travel in Asia.

As I finished college I was blessed enough to work in my own firm. At first, it seemed great handling consumers, managing employers, taking care of transactions etc. However, few years down the line it seemed boring the usually intensity days just seemed to get longer with stress and more stress as fur as rewarding no way. Even though it was small firm, it had its share of office politics.

My father started as school in his native village while taking change of the firm in the city. I was not ambitious as I was few years ago my business dreams came to halt as I wondered is this what I really want? Yes the many was good but what about simple things in life.

I am meditation teacher for the past 3 years that when I found that I enjoyed teaching more than shouting and being yelled at. My parents suggested I should contribute to the society we live in. I had few inner dreams inside of me like can I sit in a classroom for 8 hrs a day listening to teaching, taking notes, doing assignments. Thanks to god and my family and friends, they pushed me a lot.

Finally, I sat down and thought I knew I enjoyed traveling a lot but I did not travel, I did not enjoy being tied down in management and finally it was because of my teachers that I am here today so I thought I would try my level best to give something back to this world.

I chose to do an English Teacher Training course as I intend to take up language teaching as my profession. I want to enhance my teaching methodology and techniques. Doing this course will help me to understand the problems that I might face when I am working with non-English speaking people. I am sure this course will groom my personality to face challenges in my teaching career.

The course seemed to have a professional - looking website.

I am grateful to the staff for investing the time and energy to deliver as the most up to date and relevant teaching methods and materials in a professional manner.

The teaching materials and the course contents are adequate and sufficient but more teaching time would help.

The aspects of lesson planning, teacher (instructor) modeling of methods seemed to me most useful.

The trainer stimulated our interest very much. The simplicity of creating a lesson plan proved that it is not a difficult job.

The trainer was quite responsive to our problems and queries. The performances of the trainees seemed to better than I anticipated.

Classroom size was adequate, although it would be nicer if there were more ventilation in the room.

I choose ATI because firstly, it is in Kolkata, the place I like. Secondly, after having met them before joining course I found the ATI as a reliable and recognize institute.

Experience with ATI was great. This is an institute, which fulfill its commitments. Provide you and guide you when ever necessary. ATI has staff, which has a sound knowledge about their work. Dedicated staff and of course professionals. Good to be a part of ATI. Wish them all the best for future.

The contents and the materials in the course are quite appropriate. The trainer communicated classes well. The trainer stimulated our interest in the subject in well manner. The infrastructures of ATI, Kolkata is fabulous. The facilities provided by them are too good. I think overall that it is an appropriate place, well equipped and well maintained. Good job.

I choose ATI because it was accessible in India. I always wanted to come here. ATI has a good reputation, cheap price.
I had a great fun working and learning with you guys!
Good luck for future.

The course content of this course is interesting and presented. This course did not have too much material but the books were useful. Lesson planning and lesson practice were most useful for us.

The trainers communicated the class materials clearly and they were well prepared for the classes. The trainer organized the classes effectively.

I liked its big classroom and guesthouse was nice but far from the training site. The location is nice and lots of restaurants and shops to have fun and facilities.

I choose ATI because of its nearest location from Bhutan and there are more openings for teaching abroad. It is useful course. Trainers and trainees are excellent. Kolkata grew gradually on me and I am thing of coming back soon. Guest house is good.

The contents and materials of the course are good. The teaching practice classes seemed to me most useful.
Along with this I would like to add that, perhaps some more TP could be included. TP could have been from the school textbooks.

The trainer communicated the class material clearly. They were well prepared for the class and organized the class time effectively.

The good though it would have been nice if there were some couches and TV in the living room of the guesthouse. In addition to that I would like to say that the course duration could have been extended 4 weeks.

This course is not an certificate but a personal triumph for me. The city of joy has brought many things in my life. 3 weeks is such a short time to experience this city. The ATI has been very friendly to all of us and I enjoyed this country more than my graduation in UK and Malaysia.

The content and the materials of the course were excellent. Community activities and support to student seemed to me most useful.

The trainers were all good in communication class material and management of class timing. They were prepared for the classes and well responsive to trainees’ problems and quires. The trainers were quite well to stimulate our interest in teaching.

I choose firstly because it was in Kolkata, secondly because it was the cheapest, thirdly because when I came to visit the school it seemed very good and professional. The staff seemed nice, too.

I liked Kolkata very much. It is interesting, varied and fun city. Where we were living was a random subways but this gave us a real insight into the life here.
ATI has been great! The classes were fun and the teaching practice was always a surprise. The kids were great.

The course had everything you need to get started in teaching just enough. Materials used and supplied were good. Teaching practice and lesson plans seemed to me most useful. The guest session with the storytelling teacher was great.

The teacher communicated the class materials clearly. They were well prepared for the classes as well as they organized the class time effectively possible considering limitations, strikes, holidays etc.

I am not sure whether the trainer or the TP did stimulate my interest in the subject. The trainers were mostly responsive to our problems and queries.

The accommodation was too far from the school. Considering how much we paid could not we have had an apartment never the school or city? In addition, furnished at least a table, chairs, and hot water would have been good. The school itself it is great, compact but with everything.

It may be a more formalized internship or job session in the course. It seemed like if we wanted anything along those lines we had to ask repeatedly.

I choose ATI because I wanted to spend some time in Kolkata and something different from what I was doing before.
The experience was great. I love Kolkata and to do this course here and this is an enriching experience.
The content of the course and materials are great.
The text on TEFL was really useful. It was a good reference for ideas on activities for class. I am sure I will refer to it when I start teaching. I did not like the session when we had the guest speaker. She was supposed to teach us how to teach grammar through storytelling. I do not think she conveyed the information that was wanted so clearly.

Over the entire site was clean and nice.

Finally, the course was great! I am glad to go this route and I look forward to applying what I learned in the classroom!

The content of this course and material are very good.
The aspect of foreign language course, lesson planning and definitely the peer teaching and school experience were most useful for me.

The teachers were very affective in clearing class materials and time management. They stimulated our interest in our subject especially they were quite responsive to trainees’ problems and queries.

The training site was very nice, cool and clean.
Thank you so much and I finally know what I want to do.

Besides being a consultant editor for a lifestyle magazine in Chennai, I also teach English to expatriate. I have students from 3 years to 45years old, and most often they have do not know even simple English phrases. I have my own methodologies, which include drawing, singing, role play etc. which I implement according to the student. (Whichever works best for each student).

With TESOL, I hope to learn and correct my teaching methodologies and make my teaching much more effective. Because these students depend on me, and for expatriates it’s a survival issue, I want to make sure I guide them right.

As most professionals in corporate in India have difficulty communicating effectively in English I find this course will help me help these professionals enhance their skills in the four skill areas – L R S W. I want to be able to help professional over me their mental block towards communicating effectively in English.

I have been a student of informatics in a Warsaw university for the last 3years, and also privately teaching students, although it wasn’t exactly legal to do it. But, TESOL came to my mind roughly six months ago. Eastern Europe is a country/place with so many paradoxes , I have been teaching meditation there and found that it was one to the best places I could find out about the fun native to humanity. I would like to do a research on human interaction. And the best way to start that is by teaching. And therefore I can find out more about people. This is the reason why I chose TESOL. And if I succeed in it, I would go about a journey, and do what I like best, explore humanity. In its purest form

English language always fascinated me. As I am an avid reader, I enjoy the play of language. Currently my career requires me to teach English language to my Indian students. My students are employee of a knowledge process outsourcing firm, who have to teach with English language. While I have been teaching, the methodologies I am using have been solely my own. I would love to learn the current methodologies of teaching, creating a lesson plan and the different ways to suit the various levels of learners. I am eager to learn the TESOL way of teaching English to various groups of learners both adults and young learners.

I started school on my birthday, feb 1st. I took a 3 week teacher
training program, got my TESOL certificate, and can teach anywhere in
the world, except Japan and Korea, those two I need a degree of some
sort for.

My class started off with 11 students, only 3 foreigners the rest
Indian, than in the second week Petri from Finland dropped out without
a word. I became close friends with Neev, a young woman from Ireland.
We spent lot of time together during our last week and even after the
course was over.

The teacher Anjana is this really friendly, very experienced, fun,
outgoing, educated teacher with a heart of gold and a mind perfect for
teaching.

Lizy wanted to constantly go out of her way for me, so she woke up
early every morning to make me lunch for school and would make my
portion less spicy and salty and her family would get the usual. I
asked her not to do this, but it gave her such pleasure, that I ended
up just accepting it and not making a fuss.

I learnt more about teaching kids and adults in those 3 weeks than I
did in 22 years of my life before I came to India. Anjana focused
mostly on techniques and gave us a lot of advice that I wish all
parents and teachers learnt as well during parent and teacher training
(if there is a parent one). More than half the parents and teachers I
know could really benefit from this course. It is so obvious to me now
why students, teachers and parents have been failing all these years.
Now I’m no guru obviously, but I firmly believe that this course has
made me more accepting and understanding of people from all different
backgrounds and all different life experiences and all different ages.
I realize now that it’s not the parents’ or teachers’, or even the
students’ fault for how they act, it’s their upbringing and education.

Unbelievable how one person can influence us and set our lives for us.
It is up to us to get out of this routine/habit and find another way.
There is always another way. I hope that everyone who is not happy
with the way their life is now, finds another way. I wish that the
education system finds another way to approach children, especially in
America and Asia. Too strict and too military like.

In India there is a constant struggle with this issue as it happens
every day and too often. Suicide rates go up because teachers make
school too competitive and instead of recognizing students’ talent
and encouraging it, they focus on marks. Marks will only get you a
job, but the ones who are truly talented and who are not as bright in
studying, they are the ones shut down and merely glanced at, if at
all, and those are the ones who commit suicide or give up because the
teacher doesn’t care. Now it may not be the teacher’s fault, it could
be simply that the teachers are trained a certain way and so they are
forced to teach that certain way.

I learnt about students and how and why they lose confidence, focus,
and do not do well in school. It is often the teacher’s fault, not the
students’. In India there are 3 types of students; Intelligent,
Average and Slow. Most see the slow learners as mentally unstable, and
often these students are given drugs in Western countries, but it is
simply a way their mind works, they are slow, not stupid. A good
teacher is one who is patient and encourages these students not shuns
them and looks down upon them and ignores them.

A passionate teacher is one who takes the time to help these students.
Unfortunately many teachers do not have time to stay back after school
to help these students because they too have a life. The amount of
work the teachers have to do before and after a lesson are
unbelievable. And unfortunately there are many teachers who use
teaching as a power tool. Some were teased as a child and lived a
miserable childhood so they go out of their way to make it hard for
their students. Many teachers are happy and feel right when only 5% of
their class passes. They actually think they have done a good job
teaching. They make it hard on purpose, often making the lesson
suitable for the Intelligent group. I am aware of the way things are,
and I am aware of how I could make a difference and how I could be one
of the good teachers. Many techniques were demonstrated, and many
objectives were taught. Different levels of students, different views
and beliefs, I am interested in helping these students improve their
English and make it as easy as possible to learn the basics of the
language. I am grateful to the universe for sending me to India at

I have chosen to do an English teacher training course to upgrade myself with the latest teaching techniques for effective teaching. Nevertheless, I have to admit that I love to travel and wish to travel and work abroad. TESOL seemed to be required certification to be able for me to get a job abroad. This is what gathered from the internet and also from a friend who has successfully completed her course TEFL and is happy with her job in Hong Kong as a teacher. I have done my TTC and have around 6 years of teaching experience in schools as a Math’s and English teacher as well as a music vocals teacher, but TESOL seems to be promising in upgrading trainer skills with regards to rapid advance in English teaching. The opening promised by TESOL is also more appealing because of its validity on a global level opening a variety of opportunities to the ones with the real passion for teaching and traveling!

AS, I have been working as a lecturer in Baburia Institute of Engineering & technology, Vadodara, Gujarat. I have chosen an English teacher training course because in Gujarat or Vadodara, no one has done this course so if I show this certificate to my institute they will increase my salary and I can also get chance to work in gulf countries as an English teacher, I will go there on the basis of this certificate that’s why I have chosen to do an English teacher training course. Another reason for choosing this course is my brother is in UK and he has also informed me about this course, he has also told me that after doing this course I have good opportunities to teach English not only in India but all over the world. He has also informed me that on the basis of this course you can come here and you can get job in schools. All these are the strong reasons that lend me to do TESOL.

I have chosen to do an English Teacher Training for various reasons. Firstly, I did this so that I could have a better prospect in my teaching career and so that I could apply in better schools which pay quite well both in India and abroad. I did this course also because it would give me a chance to travel and see places and the different cultures therein and to learn something about those cultures, but I also chose this so that I could learn about how to teach the student. English using innovative ideas and thereby try and make their study of English more fun. Doing it that way would make them understand the language better and at the same time want to learn it too. It is with all these reason in mind that I chose this course.

I have been teaching English as a subject for more than five years and teaching is a passion for me, but I find that classroom teaching is quite boring where the teacher’s job is just to complete the syllabus. Therefore, I thought of teaching English language which would be more innovative and interesting. I also want to move out of my town, as I love traveling to different places and meeting different people. Then through the internet I came to know that I would be able to teach English in various countries after acquiring a TESOL certificate. So I chose to do this English teacher training course and transform my dream into reality.

The teaching methodology of the English language has taken many turns through the years. Globalization and rapid expansion of information has pushed English to the forefront to be the vehicle to transport. As a result researches have noticeable concern for the teaching methods and teaching practices of the English language. English is an ever evolving language that is changing everyday. Having been a teacher for the past twenty years has proved to me that teacher can get stuck in a rut if they continue to work in the same progressive change. I have therefore chosen to do this English teacher training course that keeps me abreast with current research and development of the English language. It is my belief that a teacher is a life long learner and at the age of forty two. I strongly believe that if I do not keep myself informed I would be of no good as a teacher. I understand from the information gathered from the website that a TESOL training is a requirement for teaching in schools outside India. This is another reason for doing the course.

English, as a language always fascinated me while I was young and my interest for the subject transformed into passion as I majored it from the University. With Globalization English learning has acquired a fresh momentum and that has pulled me to enroll for the English teacher training course wherein I can equip myself with the international standard in teaching. Having a post- graduate degree in English to my credit, I needed a formal certification in teacher’s training. TESOL, I felt, therefore not only will enrich me with the mechanics of language teaching but also broaden and sharpen my prospect of teaching outside the confine of my homeland where English is not very frequently spoken. Hence I think the main objective of taking TESOL course is not only to have a better facilitation but also to add value to those who are completely alien to the language

I have been teaching English for the last fourteen years. I believe that a teacher can be successful in his career only if he is updated both in methodology and training. I would like to be a successful teacher by being a part of TESOL. Since I am a teacher, I have ample opportunities to apply what I have learnt from TESOL. Moreover, I would get a lot of chances in other countries after I successfully complete my TESOL. I am very much interested in ESL and this training course would benefit me a lot by learning the latest techniques of teaching English. I am sure that I can improve my teaching after undergoing this training course. We get a lot of activities like games, group work, peer work etc from these courses which are sure to help us a lot. We also get the latest techniques of teaching grammar, listening vocabulary, reading, writing etc. by undergoing this training program. Above all, we participants various parts of India and other nationalities which gives is an opportunity to share teaching experience and make benefit out of it. These are some of the reasons why I took part in the training program.

I am presently working as professor of English in one of the private Engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Right from eighteen years I am teaching students of Engineering, business administration and master of computer application. In addition I am training students for GRE, TOEFL & IELTS and also for placements on changes occurring in all walks of human life. Globalization and Industrialization brought changes in unimaginable speed. This made me realize that these changes demand appropriate pedagogical methods. To keep in pace with the changing world this TESOL program given me new insight of teaching techniques. I wish to remain as an effective teacher not just in India but across the globe. I strongly believe this program would enhance my career prospects and promote me to an international platform. This program is tuning me towards flexibility and accessibility. I want to become a TESOL facilitator.

I have chosen to do this English Teacher training course to gain better techniques and find better opportunities of English Language teaching. I hope at the end of this course, I will have serious insight into English language teaching. I also hope that training I get here would help me to devise new teaching methodologies, I am sure I will be able to take many teaching techniques that I learn here to my classroom back at my workplace. I am confident this course will keep my urge for life-long learning alive and help me better understand the challenges in ESL teaching.

The world we live in today is a changed place. Rapid development has taken place in science and technology in the last half century. Knowledge had increased by leaps and bounds. New techniques are being discovered; new tools are pushing the frontiers of knowledge in almost every sphere of human activity. Language learning in not left behind either. I have been taught from school and college day’s traditional ways of teaching the language. But many of these theories are outdated and not relevant or have to be discarded and replaced by more advanced teaching techniques and methodologies that new research is unraveling as to the direction teacher has to take in dealing with new tools at his disposal. It is in this context that I have chosen to do this course, namely, to acquire the latest techniques to effectively teach English to others of which I am passionate about and secondly but not by any means the last; I trust this program will better my prospects in my teaching career.

The whole world has come under one roof because of the advent of latest technologies. English has become the lingua franca in this modern age. Teaching is a noble profession which requires passion and commitment to turn the young generation into literates for a glorious, better world. I am a teacher of English and have been teaching for quite a long time. My long years of experience in teaching have taught me that I have to refine my language skills which ultimately help the student for better language competence. I also realized that training would certainly help sharpen my teaching abilities. In this way I get an opportunity to do justice to my teaching profession. Especially I have chosen this TESOL teaching program to understand the teaching techniques to enhance my skills for better teaching abilities. Only a trained English teacher can teach English language skills far better than an ordinary qualified English teacher. Finally I would like to conclude by stating that every English teacher needs to be trained and benefit the student community.

I have been working as a soft skills trainer/facilitator and English tutor for almost all 3 years. Actually I am here to learn the methodology for teaching a language to upgrade my knowledge in English language. Since I cannot find and institute which offers this kind of course other than TESOL. Moreover I am very much interesting in going abroad as an English teacher, it’s my goal too. So I need a platform for improving myself as well as to make a path for my good. That’s why I have chosen English teacher training course TESOL. I hope I will be getting here what I am expecting

I have chosen to do this English teacher training course for several reasons. Firstly after so many years in teaching I have felt that my teaching techniques are so traditional and with no workshops or effective training course ahead I have decided that I am in a dire need to sharpen my teaching tools and make myself as professional as my superiors expect. Today, teaching is a challenging job and if we do not update our strategies & methodologies; we will harm our students and will be of no benefit to them. Secondly, I feel that as a teacher working for so many years, I am stuck in the same place. Everyone dreams of a promotion or change of career at some points in his profession. Thirdly, with globalization and the inflation of information, I came to the conclusion that working in the same place for a long time is not good. I feel it is a good to be an energetic and motivated person by shifting place. To do this, TESOL is the shortest way. A certification as such will pave the way of the teacher to work anywhere in the world. Above all, TESOL is the shortest way to a good salary, especially for those who are underpaid

Right from the childhood I have always been fascinated by the English language and have been a reasonably serious reader too. After my plus two 12th I want on to do my graduation in English honors. Subsequently I have worked as an English teacher in schools and also freelanced as a communicative English instructor. But over the period of time I started realizing that I had lot of hit a platform and also wanted to explore a new avenue and widen my horizons. That is when I chanced upon to hear about the TESOL course. I read the information available on the Internet, had telephonic conversation with the coordinator and realized probably this course in what I had been looking for. I believe this course might open up new vistas for me and realize my dream of picking up a job abroad as and when the opportunity arises. Moreover I feel I would be well equipped in the face of such an eventuality and would feel confident to handle the student in the appropriate way. These, I would say are the reasons that prompted me to join this course, and at the end of the third day I would like to state I am enjoying the classes and three cheers to Amrita for commanding our undivided attention.

Teaching is not only delivering lesson in the class but it is a learning process as well. A teacher should be a learner first if he wants to be a better and effective teacher.
I have chosen this course to teach English through right and effective method in order to achieve the teaching objective. My learners in Bahrain are non native speaker of English. Hence the problem in the LSRW skill of English. As a teacher my focus would be to facilitate the learning of English language in a systematic way.
TESOL program has been designed for the learner – teacher who would like to teach the non native speaker of English. This training will equip to facilitate teaching learning process. I would be able to teach them through interactive method and the teaching would be more fascinating from the learners’ point of view. Hence I feel that this training will exactly help me to do what I want to do for the non- native speaker of English.

I have been teaching English for the last ten years and I have been stuck in the same job ever since. The TESOL program seemed like a splendid opportunity a gateway to teach English in the foreign country where the pay package is better than what I am earning currently. I am doing this course also because of the excellent placement that TESOL promises; so it seemed worth my time and money to invest in the certificate.

I have always been a student of different languages. Having studied other languages I felt there was a need for me to have skills in the language that helped me open my eyes to the world and with which I have been accomplished all my education.
Helping other people find themselves and their true potential through the same language would be a unique experience for me and hopefully I will get to learn something new through this process.

As I have taken up a job in Oman in the position of an English teacher I need myself to be perfect in my approach as well as to know tips to implement the methods for a better way to teach English language. I want to know the right way to approach my class so as to make a difference in my classroom.

I enjoy teaching and would like to learn “HOW TO TEACH” in a manner that keeps the students involved and interested in classes. The fact that TESOL is an internationally recognized course also helps. I teach foreign language to Indians think it would be interesting to teach English to foreigners (vice-versa!)

I want to be a teacher, as a professional. I enjoy teaching and look forward to enrich my career in this profession. I hope your institute, post-completion of the course will give the opportunity to be a part of a reputed educational institute or a corporate where I can apply the skills and knowledge I gained from TESOL program.

I have been a Secondary School English teacher for 6 years and have taught across a range of curriculum such as IGCES, A-levels, IB and the British National Curriculum. As I seek a change of career direction - perhaps move on to the field of adult education – I require a formal certification in language training. This is why I have chosen to do the TESOL course at ATI.

I am a Master’s in English literature with a background of 17 years of teaching to my profile (in the Gulf). I have taught English as a first language to the Arab students. I took my time but I succeeded being on the best teachers over a period of time. Today unfortunately with a Master’s degree and a 17 years teaching track still asked for a teacher’s training certificate to apply for jobs abroad. So I am here frankly speaking just to obtain a certificate.

I have been working in Aviation Relief and development for three years and would like to switch over to aviation education teaching. My end goal in English language teaching is to test and certify students to the ICAO level 4. I have been learning Dasi in Afghanistan for 3 years and think that I would like to be on the other side of the desk, as a teacher. I think I would enjoy the experience.

Just after Post Graduation in English I went abroad in 2002 to work as an English language Instructor. I taught there in the Kingdom of Bahrain for 4 years. After that I joined King Khalid University as a lecturer in English in 2007. In these couple of years I have developed my own teaching style as I have not had any formal training as a teacher. Though I have been applying my efforts to my level best I am not sure whether I have been successful in discharging my responsibilities as an English lecture. I believe that TESOL will fill that gap which I think I have. I have also heard that it will instrumental to keep my teaching proficiency updated. There are reasons why I am interested in doing this course.

In India, especially the cities, English is the medium of instruction. In spite of that a very small percentage of students are able to speak, read, or right English correctly; the basics are not very clear or strong . They go higher levels without a good foundation. Simple, correct English is better than high level but unsure knowledge.
Methods of teaching are very monotonous, dull and drab. Since I think my basic English is good; and I like and enjoy interacting with kids. I would like to learn more about new, different methodologies. Catch them young, and make all aspects of the language clear.

I was doing TESOL job for the past ten years and I would like to continue it for some more years. I see this as a refreshment in my career. The teaching techniques that I followed were not sufficient for present day teaching. New teachers are experimenting and implementing different ways for an effective class management. Of course, I am confident and dedicated teacher who can achieve the lesson goals, the same time I can reflect on my lesson. I found the percentage of “proficiency” in less in me compound to other teachers. I would like to fill the gap with power packed, well planed teaching method. That is why I am in TESOL and expect I can make a changeover at the end of the course, utilizing your “communicative” way of teaching. I hope this course helps me in achieving ambitions in career life.
